An effective work with CAD programs, or more broadly with 3D modeling programs, requires efficient usage of standard user interface devices, such as a keyboard and pointing device (mouse, light pen, tablet). In the case of users with various disabilities, this simple task can be a big challenge. The project covers issues (one or several) to enable/improve the work of disabled people and increase the efficiency of the work of non-disabled users/teams:
- Voice interface - implementation of speech recognition for program control, for people with motor disabilities.
- HMD display - a virtual extension of the resolution of a typical display for people with visual disabilities.
- 3D display - a more natural, easier to interpret presentation of work results, for people with visual disabilities.
- 3D manipulation - more natural interaction with 3D models, in particular for surface design and configuration of assemblies, using existing solutions (haptic, myo bracelet, VR manipulators, motion tracking, gesture recognition) or development of new devices (eg. a physical flexible model, for modeling NURBS curves and surfaces), for people with visual disabilities and groups of users.
- Simultaneous operation of multiple interfaces (for a single user or group) - working with several devices (tablets / "multi-touch" tables, connecting graphic interface with voice and hardware), for users groups.
- Real-time software converting 3D CAD models, to a format allowing interactive modeling in a CAVE environment.
The proposed CAD platform for the project implementation: SolidEdge (Win64), SolidWorks (Win64), Siemens NX (Win64, Linux64, MacOS)
