Research project - assumption
The aim of the student project carried out as part of the Research Project course is aimed to prepare students for future work in a research team and to teach them to meet the obligations resulting from the agreed schedule in a timely manner. Within the scope of the Research Project, it is planned to carry out research projects, the topics of which are formulated by any clients, as well as application and application-research projects, the topics of which may be formulated by external clients.
The purpose of the research project is to conduct a process in which the Student or Students verify the research hypothesis set by the Client. The project may require the creation of a product for this purpose, e.g. an application, device, and conduct appropriate research, analysis of results, etc. If the University/Client shares confidential information (including data), the Students will be required to sign an obligation to keep the information confidential.
A mandatory outcome of the research project for projects with a research hypothesis is a report in the form of a publication formatted according to the IEEE template and prepared in English. For application projects, a report in the form of a patent application is also acceptable.
The completion of the research project is documented in the SPG electronic system by:
- Defining the topic and research hypothesis.
- Defining the schedule by specifying the stages with control dates. The stages should correspond to the tasks leading to the verification of the research hypothesis e.g.: data collection, data preparation/normalization/processing, algorithm/solution design, solution implementation, conducting experiments, results analysis, hypothesis verification based on the results obtained, publication/report.
- Interim reports documenting the achievement of milestones in the schedule.
- Developing a poster (in Polish and English) after 1st and 2nd semester, informing about the contractors, main tasks and achieved results.
- Developing a report in the form of a publication according to (IEEE, Elsevier) template in English or a report in the form of a patent application.
If the project ends with a result that can be used in further research work of the Department (including e.g. an application that was used for research, hypothesis verification) and if the University and the Student express such a will, an agreement is concluded on the transfer of property rights to the results that were obtained (at the end of the research project).
